A place for meaningful

dialogue and artsy fartsy shit.

Who we are:

Louisville Fringe is dedicated to making Louisville weirder, more compassionate, and generally all around more kickass. We want to serve the Greater Louisville Metropolitan area of theatre artists and audiences. We define theatre as ANYTHING you do with live people for live people.

We are also dedicated to reflecting our beliefs that consent matters, that Black lives matter, and that brave artists need safe spaces. The conversation in the theatre about how to create those safe spaces is ongoing and has become even more complex due to the debilitating effects of COVID-19. Fringe is determined to help be part of that conversation. We want to serve the Greater Louisville Metropolitan area of theatre artists and audiences. We define theatre as ANYTHING you do with live people for live people.

Our festival is open to anyone who wants to submit. We emphasize artists from Louisville and the surrounding region, but we also love artists from further abroad. Come challenge our creators to do better, and let us challenge you to do better.

Our values

  • Goal 01

To be inclusive, intersectional and to remove the barriers to access so that artists can focus on their work.

  • Goal 02

To remove the barriers that keep audiences away from the theatre. By finding ways to keep our festival cheap, we aim to take the theatre out of the theatre, and to the people.

  • Goal 03

To embrace the imaginative and the weird. To encourage experimentation, to broaden the definition of “theatre” as much as possible.

  • Goal 04

To give artists a space to show up and kickass, or show up and suck. Great work comes from making great mistakes

  • Goal 04

To make Louisville weirder, more compassionate, and generally all around more fantabulous by inviting out-of-town creators to show us what they are up to.

  • Goal 05

    Save the world.
